Accident Causation Course

This course provides the basics for OHS Committee members who will be conducting investigations into workplace incidents/accidents.  The review of incidents and accidents for root cause is a very important part of workplace safety.  The legislative requirements, procedures for investigations, investigative techniques and writing final reports are all covered in this course.  There are separate courses available for committees under federal or provincial legislation.

Ready For Work

This presentation is provided to new and young workers through the efforts of the Saskatchewan WCB, Saskatchewan Labour, and the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour.  Aimed at young workers, this course introduces the Occupational Health and Safety Act and explains the rights and responsibilities of young workers.  The right to know, the right to participate and the right to refuse dangerous work are all explained and discussed.  There is also an introduction to the Saskatchewan Labour Standards Act for the workers. 

This presentation is provided free of charge to groups of young people at High Schools and Colleges.   The presentation  ranges from 1 hour to  2 days, depending upon the group request.

Due Diligence

This course defines the concept of due diligence , and explains why it is necessary at the workplace.  OHS Legislation is discussed along with an overview of the Internal Responsibility System at the workplace, hazard analysis, written safety programs, audits, and effective paper trails are all discussed.  Additionally, the amendments to the Criminal Code of Canada, known as Bill C-45 are also discussed and its implications for workers, supervisors, management, owners and board members are examined.  Separate courses are available for committees under provincial or federal jurisdiction.

Occupational Health and Safety Committee Training Level 1

This course covers the role of the committee members in the right to refuse dangerous work procedures, development of a safety program, handling concerns, incident/accident investigation introduction, meetings and the OHS legislation.  Separate courses are available for federal and provincial legislated workplace committees.

Occupational Health and Safety Committee Training Level 2

This course covers the role of committee members in effective hazard identification, job safety analysis, accident investigation procedures.  Accident root cause identification is also discussed.  The training also covers the applicable legislation in greater detail.

Rights and Responsibilities

This course discusses the rights and responsibilities of the employer, the worker and the supervisor as outlined in OHS legislation.  It is a good session where everyone learns about the roles each group plays in a safe workplace.  The right to refuse dangerous work procedures, the importance of a documented safety plan, cooperation with OHS Committee/Representatives, and the general implications of Bill C-45 are all discussed.  Separate courses are available for provincial or federal legislated work sites.

Safety for Supervisors

This courses discusses the rights and responsibilities of the front line supervisor.  The legislative requirements are explained, the right to refuse dangerous work procedures, and the importance of providing competent supervision at the workplace.  The implications of Bill C-45 for the supervisor are also discussed.  Separate courses for provincial or federal legislated supervisors are available.
